Jukebox & Media Sharing Terminal

I was thinking whether it is a great idea to put a jukebox inside a bus. Since I frequently travel by bus, most of the time I plug in my earphones and listening to my mp3 player. Obviously I am not alone because others are also doing it and how wonderful it would be if all of us passengers are listening to the same song together. I know that there exist something called radio to which what we passengers hear are the radio channel picked by either the driver or the conductor but having a jukebox means that the passengers can share the song of their choice with other passenger thus strengthening the bond between them a bit. They might even sing along song together.

Putting a jukebox in a bus might not be one good enough idea but what if we put a media sharing terminal instead. The passengers can share their multimedia collection with each other and even download songs or other media from the terminal to their phones or laptops at a reasonable price.
It is hard to implement this idea on a transit transport but we might be able to pull this off on long distance public transports such as express bus or trains.

Comparing and Differentiating are Thinking

Five days ago, I went to Low Yat just to fetch up some price lists from 5 different stores. As expected, though all 5 are selling the same product, that very same product has different prices. Usually we just buy the product we want at the cheapest available price but after weighing out everything from the price, warranty period, warranty service, popularity and goodwill; I finally decided to not buying anything because I went there just to window shopping.

Hitting the topic, the act of measuring or weighing out the price, warranty period etc are the act of differentiating them or comparing them to each other in order to get the desired result which is to get the product at the cheapest price with good after sale services. What I was doing when I did the differentiating and comparing the product etc was thinking. In short, thinking is comparing or differentiating the benefit to whether to take or leave the steps, decisions or choices.

Everyone is capable of thinking no matter how high or how low their IQ level is. What differentiates them is the scope they are thinking in. When a person think about the benefit of the choices that he/she have to make in its whole aspects, the person is thinking in macro level or he/she is a macro-thinker. The opposite would be a micro-thinker or thinking in a micro level which is thinking of the benefit of one option for one specific purpose only. The decision to take one option from another becomes more reasonable when the benefit is on macro level while a micro thinker can make the micro level choices become reasonable by adding up more reasons why he/she make that choice.

Further explanation can be made in order to assist you all into better understanding of both micro-thinker and macro-thinker. It is best to say that a macro-thinker’s perspective is that he/she made certain decisions if the benefit received is for a long period of time. Micro-thinker on the other hand, only thinks for short lived benefits.

Certainly, every people are hybrid. We are all a hybrid combination of both macro-thinker and micro-thinker because the decisions that we have to make relies heavily upon the situation an in each situation we might switch from thinking macro to micro level and vice versa. Using the first paragraph’s scenario, my act of weighing out the price, the after sale services etc is considered as thinking in macro level as buying things at the lowest possible price yields me extra money to save while being selective on choosing which stores offers the best after sales services gives me a peace of mind in case if the product is a faulty one.

Then again, the reason why I want to buy the product is because I want to upgrade my pc so that I can play new games which are a micro level of benefit. So, given the situation we might have to combine both micro and macro level of thinking.

World = Acceptance

How do you define the world? For me, I define it as general or common. If people accept something as common , general or normal hence it is one of the world 'attributes'. When people generally use money for transactions hence we can say that the world's transactions are using money. It is what people generally accept. Yeah, this writings are inspired by the definition of money itself where money is defined as a generally accepted means of transaction.

Here, I'm not going to 'preach' about money and it's uses but rather the term "world equals to acceptance". It is a philosophy that I want to talk about. What is your world? Your world is the 'world' that accepts you. When you're doing something and that something satisfies you, you feel like being accepted and you'll think in your mind "This is it.This is my world". It is a kind of 'place' where you feels like 'home'.

Why people need relationships? Because when you seek relationship, you seek a 'world'. You seek a group of people who accept you. There are various examples that I can give here. First one would be, "Why is there a gang of teenagers 'promoting' a culture? Let's say hip hop for the example. Teenagers who adore hip hop dress like one and act like one. Why they do that? It is because they accept hip hop as their world.

Another example would be, why some teenagers do bad things? We know that they do certain thing so that their gang will respect them. All those immoral thingies like illegal racing, immoral acts and such; they do that because they want to be accepted by their gang. As to why they never care about people's view on them is because they no longer regard the people as their 'world'. When people rejects them, they feel nothing because they now live in a different world.

The definition of this 'world' is not something meek or trivial but a heavy one as a 'world' is a place one belongs to. It is 'home'. As it is a 'home', it is something worth protecting hence many people will stop at nothing to protect their 'home'. Going back to the context of teenagers, for them who is still searching their own path of life; this is the crucial stage which parents must fully keep their focus high on their teenage child. But still, as the proverb states that "don't cry over spilled milk"; there is also another phrase that goes "it is never too late for anything". Even proverb has its refutation which almost identical to the principle of Zen. Though the development of a child 'world' must begin as early as 7 of age, if some parents somehow neglect their child at this stage; it is never too late to teach them, to show them the 'world' that you want your child belongs. Just have some care and show it not in a warden's way but that of a friend.

Between Care and Busybody

It is said that if you care about someone too much will make you receive an award for being busybody. Well, it's not an award but rather an insult. what about when parents asking their child "where are you going?".

It is a simple question but most teenagers never answer the question straight forward, always answer it with a sinister remarks and a mental state of being pissed. Simple question needs simple answer but with simple answer comes another barrage of questions from their parents which is why the teenagers never want to answer that SIMPLE question.

Why the parents ask those questions? Is there a need for asking that question? Parents know that their child will be pissed hearing that question which is like a declaration of war between two nations, parents versus child. Parents who ask the question are parents who care about their children not busybody.

It is weird. Often we hear that one of the reasons for a child/teenager misbehaves is because of lack of attention from their parents. Is that true? It is more to an excuse than a reason. Children misbehave not to grab the attention from their parents but friends instead. Call it peer pressure. Apart of being with their parents, children spend most of their time with friends. Friends draw most part on the white sheet than parents. Parents are nothing but an observer.

Marriage and Life

Marriage... a holy ritual which permits sex between a man and a woman which also permits them to have children. It is something to be respected for, this ritual; which we do it for the sake of creating life (children). What is marriage to us now? A ritual or just something you want to experience?

Marriage ceremonies are held to announce the people that a pair of humans are now allowed to live together and to have sex. Nowadays, marriage is just for show. People held it in grandiose manner, bride or groom asking for high dowries. What is this? There is no need for all that! What we need are just a simple wedding ceremony and an affordable dowries to both individual.

Even though they announce their relationship to all people but actually even before they get wed, they have had plenty of sex which occasionally the female one got pregnant and they have to wed. Marriage has become a tool to conceal their shame and mistakes.

Just because they're getting married doesn't mean that the sins they have committed, sex they've done before are being pardon by God. We all know that teenagers nowadays are not pure anymore. Some of them are not virgin anymore. Virgins are like animals facing extinction. They exist yet hard to find.

I don't know when all of this started. Teenagers tease their friend who are still virgin. Is there a pride for not being a virgin? Is it a shame for being a virgin? The position has change. It should be a pride to stay virgin and a shame to lose it before marriage. Losing your virginity before marriage yet you take pride for doing so... this means that you take pride for committing sin.

This world is not for eternity. This life is not for eternity. Sooner or later this life, everything will perish. Just because we are not immortal, our life is short; doesn't mean that we are free to do anything as we please. Doesn't mean that we have to rush in making sins. It's the other way around. Since our life is short, we have little time to do good deeds and worship God.

Please, my brothers and sisters. There is no such thing as committing sins = pride or reputation. This is all bullshit.

What kind of person are you?

I’ve been slacking off lately, losing my drive and momentum which can help me further my study. Should I get married? You see, some students are lucky enough to get married during their study years; supported by their parents thus having almost no financial problem. Yep, I wish I have that kind of family but you see; your existing family is those who shape you to be who you are today. If you said that you hate yourself, maybe you actually mean that you hated the way your family brought you up.

Enough talk! Time to get even~!

Actually what I want to talk today is about “There are 3 of 1 thing” and if you’ve read the title, it should be “There are 3 types of people.” If anyone finds what I am about to talk about is subjected to plagiarism then I apologize because what I am about to talk is something that has been on my mind about 5 years already. Here goes nothing!

There are 3 of 1 thing. There are 3 kinds of people; one who leads, one who follows and one who observes. All of them are self-explanatory yet let me enlighten you more.

One who leads is one who creates something and while doing it, he achieves something which attracts others who then decides to follow him. Consider ‘one who leads’ as a trendsetter. He creates, sets a trend which people will follow. This type of person is usually smart and proud, one who definitely changes the norms.

One who follows is one who follows the one who leads. Most people belong to this category. Popular things like fads and fashions are glorified by this type of people. Without these people, revolution and reformation will not move/happen as leaders need to have their support.

One who observes is one who takes up the stance of ‘wait and see’. They do not move unless when necessary. Usually these people like to give their opinion about the world and they often give either praises or critics on every system. It is very difficult to gain support from these people unless you are able to impress them, pique their interest.

So, what kind of people are you? After all, these are just ‘my theory’. Feel free to debate about it.
